KUALA LUMPUR: Transport Minister Loke Siew Fook today urged industry players to embrace methods of minimising environmental damage due to logistical operations, saying this is important in achieving greater efficiency and a reduction in carbon emissions.

“Logistics plays a central role in the global economy, and the industry can play a crucial part in the way business is done with regards to environmental impact,” he said at the launch of the Inaugural Green Logistics Partnership conference here today. According to Loke, the transport sector contributes 21% of total carbon emissions, the second largest source of such emissions in the country.

“I recently launched the Cargo Move and Linkhaul system to minimise vehicle waiting in Port Klang through better scheduling.
