The killing occurred on Sunday after two previous suspected assassination attempts on his life by yet-to-be-identified persons.
The market chairman, who was popularly known as Opito, was killed by gunmen who reportedly waylaid him by Cross-and-Stop Junction near Ekete Inland Junction along the DSC/Udu Expressway in the Udu area of the state.Sources said the gunmen, who had been on his trail, shot him continuously in the left hand.
Opito, who immediately jumped out of his vehicle, was reportedly chased by the gunmen to Orhuwhorun Road, where he was shot dead. The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, confirmed the killing of Opito, adding that investigations were ongoing.All rights reserved.
