Goarn is a network of over 250 institutions, including research institutes and universities, which respond to major public health incidents by deploying staff and resources to affected areas. Government officials and representatives from the WHO and the World Bank Group also spoke at the roundtable. Dr Abiad said it is costlier to solve an ongoing crisis than to prepare for a future one, adding that it is important not to lose sight of longer-term needs even while dealing with pressing concerns.
