The Brisbane factory of a Queensland-founded company building fast-chargers for electric vehicles will close, reportedly leaving 400 people facing losing their jobs. Tritium announced the closure of the Murarrie facility as it continues to face huge financial challenges, with its 2022-23 full-year results showing a $A185 million loss.

2 on Wednesday. The Brisbane factory, which opened in 2019 and reportedly has a 400-strong workforce, had been visited by dignitaries such as Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, and Caroline Kennedy, US Ambassador to Australia. It was spruiked by the company at the time as a “state-of-the-art research and development centre, the largest of its kind in the world and the global centre for Tritium’s facilities in Europe and North America”.
