Apple is following the trend of other major smartphone companies by expanding the scope of its bug-bounty program – opening it up to all security researchers:

to pore over code to find errors, but identifying issues — especially ones that could lead to major problems like network infiltration or zero-touch attacks — often require human eyes. To that end, companies are launching and expanding bug-bounty programs to give researchers greater incentive to examine their code for potential vulnerabilities that could be exploited. Here are a few recent examples:it up to all security researchers.

The company's bug-bounty program now encompasses its phones, smartwatches, computers, TV streaming devices, and cloud service, and will offer a maximum reward of up to $1 million. While the company has fairly stringent requirements for claiming bounties, this should still help improve security and find exploits faster. the potential rewards for reporting bugs in its Android program to $1.5 million. That amount is a considerable increase from only $200,000, the prior limit.
