Nasdaq wants the 3,000 companies listed on its U.S. stock exchange to make their boardrooms less overwhelmingly male and white. The move ups the stakes in a widening push around the world for more diversity on corporate boards.

FILE - In this March 16, 2020 file photo, a United States flag is reflected in the window of the Nasdaq studio, which displays indices and stocks down, in Times Square, New York. Nasdaq is looking to become more diverse, proposing new rules that would require all companies listed on its U.S. exchange to publicly disclose consistent, transparent diversity statistics about their board of directors.

The proposal would also require most Nasdaq-listed companies to have at least two diverse directors or, if they cannot meet the mandate, to explain why not. That could include one board member who is female and one who is either an underrepresented racial minority or LGBTQ. Foreign companies and smaller companies would have additional flexibility in satisfying this requirement with two female directors.

Women hold just 23.1% of board seats at companies in the Russell 3000, a broad index that includes most of the U.S. stock market. That’s up from about 15% in 2016, according to executive-data firm Equilar. Shareholders are increasingly pushing companies to improve their board diversity, both in public and in private. Big investors are trying to cajole executives through private channels. For example, Nuveen, which invests $1.1 trillion globally, has been pushing a group of smaller and mid-sized companies without a woman on their board to add one. It’s seen more than 30% of them add a woman, as of 2019.

Give me a fucking break.....socialism

I know what Nasdaq wants.

Screw being qualified, hire me because...

Say it with me: ANTI-WHITE

Er, have you seen how diversity is doing?

Except it's not around the world. Its just in White countries. Africa doesn't do this, South America doesn't do this, Middle East doesn't do this, India doesn't do this and Asia doesn't do this.

If the AP and everyone else who promotes or approves of this is really serious about and believe in this you would be pushing this agenda not in the U.S., but in non-Western countries where this so called 'problem' is 1000 times worse than it is in the U.S.

Deport non whites.

Is Affirmative action, racial preferences and set asides even constitutional? When did diversity become more important than competence and qualifications?

Elliot Page picked a terrible time to become a white guy.

it should be for whoever is qualified.regardless of color, sex, ect.

Ehh, I think we should make it mandatory that whomever is better qualified gets the job. Forcing diversity for the sake of diversity is just another tentacle of control by the intolerant left.

NO!

This is racict and literally breaks every labor law

Why?

is skin color important?

More anti-white male discrimination

So mandated racism is new normal in America... got it... can you make a list of jobs my white male children can have when they grow up? I want to make sure they don’t waste their time to be an executive, president, judge or any other occupation the white ancestry has held

Yeah, that's right, why should only rich white males profit from making a buck off the backs of workers? Level the playing field. All capitalists, regardless of color or creed should be represented.

This is racism.

Diversity just for the sake of diversity is not a very wise idea. That being said if we could encourage minorities & women to pursue degrees and or job routes that give them the experience and knowledge required to be in the boardrooms, then I'm all for diverse boardrooms.

One can be qualified only after being given the opportunity to GAIN the necessary experience for a reasonable period of time in a nurturing environment. I know its a dog eat dog world. By nurture, i mean healthy mentorship/guidance

Right on! Screw qualifications. Why have a company that makes money as long as it’s diverse.

What nasdaq crash like a diverse Boeing rocket 🤣🤣🤣🤣. Diversity is a weakness. Nothing but nonstop woke complaining and people stepping on egg shells. Diversity is destroying The West. No wonder China laughs at us and refuses to take in “diversity.”

Yay! Now we'll get more diverse corporate masters!

This is absolutely disgusting.

Why is diversity only a problem when it is too many white people?

Why not require the most qualified candidates, nasdaq just kicked every under represented class in the face. Let make her a director because she is female, not the most qualified.

Maybe Nasdaq should define what an 'underrepresented minority' is first. Sounds like a random exclusion of Asian-Americans. 'Nasdaq will require boards to have at least one woman and one director who self-identifies as an underrepresented minority or L.G.B.T.Q.' - NY Times

It’s difficult to move up to CEO or Board member when the white males refuse to hire minorities even at entry level. I’ve been in the same industry for 25 years and have been the only black person and minority on my multi state team at multinationals.

Why can’t I have the job if I’m more qualified then someone who doesn’t look like me?

Has uh....has Nasdaq seen how overwhelmingly male and white Nasdaq's board is?

Identity politics is ridiculous. Meritocracies are much more just.

Looks like the CRT training at nasdaq is really paying off🤡

Because ALL that matters is identity politics 🙄

What ? Just pick someone black ? Racist BS . Qualified or not. Just be black. Stupid

The AP and Nasdaq have to do it first and prove that placing superficial appearance over competence works in a competitive environment.

Great to see racism being announced so publicly !! Lets start hiring people because of their skin color or where they came from instead of for their talent. Sickening and repulsive but at least Nasdaq is being open about its racist desires which I admire.

White is a minority globally. FYI. The logic of this thinking indicates you think there should be more white people in............Africa? Who are the colonial thinkers again

Can Nasdaq force people to be fired from their jobs for being white?

LUNACY

So, we base qualifications on skin color. Wow, that’s the very definition of racism

Something some discrimination. Pretty sure that’s illegal to do. And if you say the presences of white males is discrimination, prove it, when you have a pollution that’s nearly 75% white.

Um, what about merit and qualifications? Moronic.

Hmmm. I wonder if similar policies will make their ways to the boardrooms of Asia. I somehow doubt it.🤔

Eff that. Wtf

If your CEO is not a black Muslim lesbian transgender non-binary two spirit Jew, your company is literally white supremacist.

Where that spray tan at

neo apartheid

A cooperate Rooney rule..

You could always paint the boardrooms different color.

In other words, they think there’s “too many White people.”

Nuke it from orbit

My wife, a black woman, will gladly be a token board member for any NASDAQ traded company. Give her $100,000 a year and tell her when to attend meeting to say 'present' and then remain silent the rest of the time.

CHI—-NA also wants representation

Of all the fashion trends I've seen in my life, this is by far the biggest one.

How about we hire people based on experience, record, and diversity instead of just diversity and identity politics.

LOL

Y’all hiring Russians in yo board rooms?

Lol
