Project Enable Africa, in collaboration with the United States Embassy in Nigeria, has launched the Business Support Programme

The Non-governmental outfit, in the last six years, has been empowering persons with disabilities digitally, while also advocating for their rights.In 2020, Project Enable Africa launched the first edition of the programme called Business Support Programme for persons with disabilities in business, to provide training, mentorship and create opportunities for business expansion and increased profitability.

Speaking at the launch of the new edition dedicated to businesses led by female PWDs, NGO’s founder and Executive Director, Olusola Owonikoko said: “We are excited about the quality of participants from across the federation shortlisted for this cohort, which officially commenced today, with the orientation.

“The programme is strategically designed to provide business support to at least 50 female PWDs-led businesses in Nigeria”Acknowledging the project’s funders, Owonikoko said the partnership and support of the US Embassy in Nigeria were appreciated, given the fact that the programme is solely dedicated to women with disabilities in business.

Owonikoko added that the Business Support Training is the first of its kind in Nigeria, targeted at providing inclusive business support content and resources for PWDs in such areas as business mentorship, access to market, funding linkage, legal counsel, the need for digitalisation and financial management.

Madison Conoley, Cultural Affairs Officer, US Embassy, delivered the keynote addresses at the orientation programme, which held on Zoom.
