KOTA KINABALU: Semporna district police are looking for a bus express company clerk for allegedly providing fake inter-district travel permits to passengers.

Semporna OCPD Supt Mohd Farhan Lee said the Filipino male clerk, identified as Alnajib Salleh, 32, is needed to facilitate investigations.

He said matter came to light during a roadblock at about 8.30pm along KM15 of the Semporna-Tawau road on May 21. He said during the roadblock, police found 18 pieces of what they believe were fake travel permits when inspecting 22 bus passengers. "We took the passengers and the driver to the police station for questioning," Supt Farhan said in a press statement here, Tuesday ."Later that night at about 11pm, our team conducted a raid on an office owned by the bus company and subsequently arrested a female clerk to facilitate investigations," he said.He said all suspects were remanded for four days until May 25.

"Those with Malaysian identification documents were released on police bail while 12 foreigners had their remand extended until May 28," he said.
