Business confidence ticked up in November and was higher than in the same period last year

, according to the SA Chamber of Commerce and Industry . The BCI [business confidence index] was 1.4 points higher in November, rallying to 110.6 index points. This was higher by 3.6 points when compared to the same period last year and 2.9 points up on the 2020 number.

The erratic movement of the SACCI BCI in 2022 from a high of 112.0 in February to a low of 103.2 in May – a spread of 8.8 index points – in itself mirrors the risk and uncertainty surrounding the business climate in South Africa during 2022. “Of these eight sub-indices, increased new vehicle sales, share prices on the JSE, and manufacturing output made the largest positive month-to-month impact on the BCI in November. Annually, increased inbound tourism increased new vehicle sales and higher merchandise import volumes had a notable positive effect on the BCI. Import and export volumes both experienced increased activity in the first nine months of 2022 by increasing significantly by 15.9% year-on-year and 9.

Nicholas Woode-Smith | Electricity prices should be based on free market principles | City PressSo long as Eskom holds monopoly power and can impose its terrible service and rising prices on South Africans, it holds no real right to demand more from us, writes Nicholas Woode-Smith. We need more media coverage on the over-staffing issue. It is not acceptable for consumers to keep paying high prices to fund redundant staff. If TelkomZA could save the company by using the retrenchment process, there should be no reason why Eskom_SA cannot do the same. I agree with this. The Eskom board must be ruthless in this many. Also Eskom needs to procure equipment from suppliers directly and not through a third party. This can be said for many government institutions. I have been seeing good results about her everywhere and a lot of people keep saying to reach out to her. I eventually did and it turns out profitable. If you aren't following EliDonovan01 you should be. I have added massively to my holdings.
