The pre-loved fashion market may double in global sales to €317bn by 2027, as sustainability drives consumer choices

A growing number of people are buying used clothing, shoes and accessories, propelling the secondhand industry to $177 billion in global sales last year, according to a new report from online thrift marketplace thredUP.

This marks a 28 per cent increase over 2021, and thanks to surging inflation, more retailers are developing curated secondhand or “resale” offerings, while an increase in awareness around sustainable shopping habits are also informing their decisions.
