Police and bomb disposal experts were called to reports of a bomb threat at a building on Clayton Business Park. The call was made at 11.17am today and the building was evacuated and the area put in lockdown.
A cordon was also put in place and the A678 Burnley Road was shut in both directions between the Dunkenhalgh Hotel and the Hare and Hounds Pub junction. It resulted in traffic being diverted and delays in the area.Lancashire Constabulary said they investigated the incident and found that the threat was 'not credible'. The building and surrounding roads have now been reopened and no injuries were reported.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Police said: "We were called at 11.17am today to a report of a bomb threat at a building on Clayton Business Park, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington. "The building was evacuated, with a cordon and road closures put in place. We investigated and found that the threat was not creditable.
