She said, “This also necessitated our relentless efforts to the sensitisation of market leaders and stakeholders.

Distinguished guests and key players in our markets, reflecting on the many incidents that we have witnessed in our markets, you and I would agree that it is not out of place to reiterate the need for vigilance and intelligence gathering in our markets as this would help forestall cases of fire outbreaks and theft.

“Our markets are one-stop platforms for many activities and transactions amongst different individuals and groups on a daily basis, and that is why deliberate and strategic vigilance should be prioritised to guarantee safety and hygiene in our markets. “Therefore, let me specifically urge market leaders in all of our 382 registered markets in Lagos State to pay keen attention to every activity in our markets and put structures in place that would help safeguard our markets from attacks, fire outbreaks, epidemics and other vices that can distort the tranquillity that our dear state enjoys.”

The event was also attended by the wife of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Oluremi Hamzat, who was represented by Kola Ekemode; the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tunji Bello, represented by Hassan Sanuf; traditional leaders and market women in the Epe area of the state. All rights reserved.
