A water company is set to give its customers a one-off payment of £50 towards bills ahead of a predicted price hike

Water bills are going up amid the ever rising cost of living, but one company is offering customers £50 off to help. It comes as some water companies in England and Wales argue that bills should increase by £156 a year by 2030 to pay for infrastructure upgrades.

"They are supporting 30,000 household customers who are most in need with a one-off £50 payment towards their water bill this year. Affinity Water wanted to help with the cost of living, so they have linked up with 11 local partners of the local community offering a wide range of support for those facing financial hardship."

A spokesperson for Affinity Water added: "As the UK's largest water-only company, Affinity Water are determined to reach out and help those most in need as we know the numbers needing help are growing as the cost of living rises."
