All three people on board the twin-engine plane were killed when it crashed in the Queensland outback during a firefighting operation.

Workers from a Victorian flight charter company have been killed after their aircraft crashed in remote north-west Queensland during a fire surveillance operation.

The plane was conducting aerial fire surveillance operations in the area, travelling from Toowoomba to Mt Isa. “Our sincerest gratitude to the first responders and who are providing ongoing assistance to us.”Police said a rescue helicopter crew spotted the wreckage and officers arrived on the scene about 5pm.The aircraft had been used for mapping bushfires and aerial observation work and was contracted by the state’s fire services.
