With few hours to the supplementary elections in Bauchi State, the Commissioner of Finance in the State, Garba Mohammed Akuyam, has resigned.

Akuyam made the letter of his resignation available to newsmen at a press conference at the NUJ Secretariat Bauchi on Friday.

He said his decision to resign his appointment was as a result of the recent political developments in the state. He said, “It is with pains, heavy heart and deep concern that I write to tender my resignation as Honorable Commissioner of Finance and member of the Bauchi State Executive Council with effect from today, Friday, 22nd March, 2019.

Akuyam, who was the Director General of the Governor Mohammed Abubabakar campaign Organization in 2015 said that during his stay in office as Commissioner for Rural Development and thereafter Commissioner for Finance for a period of almost two and a half years, he enjoyed working with the governor.
