Barry's Tea were implored to review their sponsorship of this race several times by pressure groups. The decision to withdraw now was solely commercial not for any sudden ethical reasons. People stopped buying their tea so they had to take action. Let's hope this ban is permanent

The scene where the greyhound was going to be killed with a huge chinese chopping knife, and the one boiled alive in a big tank made me sick to my stomach. Shame on you Irish Greyhound Board for not preventing sales of those dogs to China

My son texted me “don’t buy Barry’s tea” now that would be a hard one for me! Love me cuppa❤️ so glad they’ve stopped sponsoring.

Brilliant news. 😊

Great news .well done guys

radionova100 Maybe you might consider this move too ?

Excellent news !

no doubt those who made that blatantly biased, slanted and woefully inaccurate portrayal of a sport that is loved by thousands are proud of themselves . . unlicensed coursing on an island off Cork has nothing to do with track racing. Balance and fairness a non runner in RTE

Excellent 👏👏 more action plz fm other financial supporters of this rancid industry 🙏

It's a cruel, stupid, ridiculous so called sport! Belongs in the past, ban it and coursing now!!

Pull the plugs let them sponsor their slaughter

Rightly so

I've worked on farms and around stables my whole life. Farmers shoot and kill animals every hour across the country for monetary reasons. I'm happy there's something been done about dogs but this is just going after small fish in a big pond imo...

Big up Barry BarrysTeaTweets

well done fbd_ie and BarrysTeaTweets. How about TodayFM stop playing advts promoting a night at the dogs? You cannot defend the indefensible

It pays to complain. Well done Barry's. You will be back on the shopping list again this week.

Liv_Monaghan 👏

Hope they now sponsor LKAnimalWelfare MADRADogRescue DogsTrust_IE and all the other shelters around the country that are picking up the pieces of this cruel industry TimeForChange AdoptDontShop ilovemydog 🐾🐾

These sponsors need to be held accountable for the dogs! They made enough money from them in the past! Now provide them with a future!

What about all of the racehorses shot in the knackers yard? Will RTE investigate that? Doubt it. The racing is worth too much money. Joke of an organisation.

Great news, 👏👏👏👏sad that the sport of greyhound racing , allowed itself to be destroyed by the mistreatment and drugging of dogs. The callous disregard for their existence by the trainers, but especially the knackery yards DOGS

Oh great - punish the ENTIRE (and very decent) Itish Greyhound Racing Community for the horrible actions of a very tiny minority ... am switching to Lyon's ...fck FBD ...
