"Once we realized how the timeline for COVID was going to play out, it was a pretty easy decision, in theory," Jeff Brodsky, chief human resources officer at Morgan Stanley, told Business Insider. "Obviously it's going to be all about the execution."
"Everyone wants to make sure that this isn't a check-the-box experience," Brodsky said. "This is a real experience of what it's like to work at Morgan Stanley. So the level of commitment across our business has been amazing."Getting an internship in the first place, which requires months of networking and a number of interviews, is a big part of ultimately getting a job on Wall Street.
"A virtual internship is not like virtual school," said Brodsky. "You can't just roll out of bed and turn on your Zoom and just be present." Morgan Stanley's interns will receive performance evaluations to that end, including a midway check-in and continuous conversations with managers and mentors.
