They don't need to see years of traction first. They don't have to twist themselves in knots of justification for funding someone of the same gender. And you know what? You won't hear me say this everyday, but This is why men in a place like Silicon Valley can go from a nobody with no work experience and no pedigree to a billionaire in a few years' time.
Being the exception feels good. I know, I used to be it. But trust me when I say, helping other women and changing the system feels better.
Men who are an obstacle to women in the workplace are a drag on the business. Fire them.
