The naira gained slightly against the U.S. dollar at the I&E window of the foreign exchange market on Thursday, as foreign exchange supply rose significantly.
The currency’s performance represents a N0.25 or 0.06 per cent appreciation from N411.25, the rate it traded in the previous on Wednesday. The forex turnover on Thursday soared by 229.24 per cent, with $110.46 million recorded as against the $33.55 million posted in the previous session on Wednesday.Meanwhile, the naira remained stable at the official market.
Current exchange rate is causing serious hardship for Nigerians. Prices of items have gone up by 200%- 300%. This is killing! Leadership of CBN must show responsibility and reverse this trend. Even food is no longer affordable. We are sitting on a keg of gun powder.
