The Wall Street Journal is demanding answers from the Phoenix Police Department after an officer detained and handcuffed one of its reporters outside a Chase Bank

The incident between The Journal reporter Dion Rabouin and the Phoenix officer occurred in late November, but just became public his week after ABC affiliate KNXV reported on the matter. In a statement, The Journal said that it is “deeply concerned” with how its reporter was treated and has asked the Phoenix Police Department to conduct an investigation. “No journalist should ever be detained simply for exercising their First Amendment rights,” The Journal said.

Ultimately, after about 15 minutes, when other officers showed up, Rabouin was allowed to walk free. A representative for Chase told me Thursday that the bank did apologize to Rabouin over the incident. But the local police department has thus far refrained from doing so.

So, by omitting to say a person of color you thought that we would move past this? Why was this man detained?

What were the answers?

All Phoenix police are RACIST

Is that smokey

Total abuse of power something needs to be done right now b4 it becomes too late.

It sounds like the bank called the police on him for trespassing and second guessed that decision afterwards so they decided to make it look like the police were wrong instead. It's obvious but most people won't see it because of race.

The answer is: He’s black🤷‍♀️ White cops immediately see the color black or brown and throw the benefit of the doubt (innocent until proven guilty) out the window. If he was a white reporter a white cop would NEVER risk violating his civil rights. Civil Rights are for white men.

Acab

Maybe if he was dressed like a professional instead of like he just got done working out he'd have been taken more seriously.

This looks like false arrest to me. The Wall Street Journal should use their lawyers to pursue a civil suit.

The blue stooge protects the $.

Unfortunately journalists from outlets like CNN are known to manipulate information related to their conduct just as much as they manipulate the content they produce...remember ChrisCuomo talking about his COVID hallucinations....lol...The reality is CNN cannot be trusted.

WSJ has reporters?

This is the state that tried to make it illegal to film police within 8 ft. so the actions by police come as no surprise. As for Chase unless they are being robbed they should not be calling police on a Black man who has identified himself. This could have ended badly.

Lol

Is the cop racist? Ummm oops, nvm. So much for that CNN. I wonder what they’ll cook up now? Maybe reach out to NBC. I’m sure you’ll find something.

BlueLivesDontMatter!

What was the reporter doing?

Nope. It's his company. Of course he'll be back. That doesn't mean he isn't a reprehensible scumbag.
