A deterioration in Apple shares this week is just the latest signal pointing to trouble for the stock market ahead of the August CPI report.

The stock market may be losing one of its leaders heading into the release of key inflation reports next week that could clarify the path of future monetary policy. August's consumer price report is due next Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. ET. Apple is headed for a down week following reports that China plans to expand a ban on the use of iPhones in government agencies and state-owned companies.
