Twenty-five years later, the position has gone from a good idea to a near necessity for enterprises with complex infrastructures and compliance standards.
On a typical day , you may spend your morning working internal compliance strategies for your new products. As part of that process, you’re likely interacting with your sales team as if you’re a prospect or a customer. CISOs frequently get pitched by outside vendors, but hearing how your company’s team pitches your own products offers an interesting peek behind the curtain.
The size of your organization also matters when it comes to day-to-day job responsibilities. CISOs for larger security vendors may have a compliance staff who would handle that side of things. If that’s the case, you should get to know that group as well, because they will bring a different angle of understanding to the various things you’re meant to be protecting.
