Trump's politically-appointed ambassadors are wrecking America's global image - Business Insider

US President Donald Trump gestures as he talks with US Ambassador to the United Kingdom Woody JohnsonEver since Trump began his presidency, his picks for US ambassadors have failed to live up to America's high standard and hurt our image around the world.

Johnson and other Ambassadorial appointees have extended Trump's worst characteristics — extreme partisanship, corruption, disdain for expertise, and racist and sexist attitudes — throughout the world. Not only are they damaging America's reputation abroad, but they are also crushing morale and creating an atmosphere of fear within the State Department.

I can still remember the dressing down I received from my Deputy Chief of Mission early on in my tenure.
