A plan to roll out Covid-19 vaccination booster shots for anyone over the age of 18 will be finalised within days, health minister Joe Phaahla said on Tuesday.But South Africa will not be imposing new internal restrictions, nor impose any restrictions on travellers from China.
There are no plans for further vaccinations for children, though, said national health department child-health specialist Lesley Bamford.Other changes to SA's approach were already approved by the coronavirus command council chaired by President Cyril Ramaphosa on Tuesday morning, Phaahla said. But the council accepted advice that there is no need to impose any new restrictions on South Africans, or to travellers from China, said Phaahla.
