Google's sister company Verily announced it will start selling insurance — and it could be a way to generate revenue

Coefficient will sell stop-loss insurance, which is bought by employers, not consumers, to cover the cost of employees' health claims that exceed a predetermined limit. The move could help Verily generate income, and the trove of health data it has amassed could give it a competitive edge in the eyes of insurers.

Verily previously launched a slew of resources meant to fight COVID-19, including a symptom-screening website and testing centers. Before that, it ran Baseline, an "ambitious effort to map human health."
