Free State emergency Services Spokesperson Sipho Towa says medical personnel are on the scene trying to extract the bodies from the wreckage. Towa says traffic flow has not been disrupted.
“On arrival, they found light motor vehicle collided head on with a heavy motor vehicle. There are five fatalities that are reported on the scene. Traffic is moving past the scene, all services are on scene, they will be executing extracting of trapped bodies.”Two people died and five others sustained injuries when a bakkie and a minibus taxi collided head-on, on the N10 road in Peterson towards Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape on Thursday afternoon.
It is alleged that reckless and negligent driving were the main contributing factors to this accident. Provincial Transport Department spokesperson Unathi Binqose said the injured were taken to Livingstone Hospital in Gqeberha. Police are investigating a case of culpable homicide.
