Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s “misreading” of a court judgement resulted in the KwaZulu-Natal provincial government’s projects being delayed by months. | WitnessKZN

In February, the Constitutional Court ruled that the 2017 Preferential Procurement Regulations used by government departments to award tenders were discriminatory and unlawful. Shorty thereafter, Godongwana warned departments of the risk of being in contempt of court should they advertise tenders under the regulations.Support independent journalism

Tender shutdown was finance minister’s faultTender shutdown was finance minister’s fault - The government was given 12 months to amend the regulations and make them constitutionally compliant, but this process was delayed by a constitutional court challenge by Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana. Tell us which deadline has ever been met by our so called rulers? I don't want to call them government coz they don't deserve it. Government is an institution that is in control of their responsibilities. Ours is a reactive one. They only react when things are worse for fixing.
