Local food purveyors may lose all of their income if the farmers market is shut down.

The Outer Sunset farmer's market is in jeopardy of shutting down because St. Ignatius high school does not want them there.Since the summer of 2020, in the throes of the pandemic, San Francisco's Outer Sunset community has held a beacon of hope every Wednesday and Sunday on the two-block stretch of 37th Avenue between Quintara and Ortega streets.

Earlier this spring, St. Ignatius, a Jesuit high school, allegedly told District 4 supervisor Gordon Mar and SFMTA that they no longer wanted the market to take place in front of the school. A spokesperson for Mar's office confirmed via email that Mar and SFMTA met with the school on July 13.
