Eskom has placed its acting head of security Karen Pillay on precautionary suspension.
"Thereafter, Stage 3 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until midnight. Breakdowns are currently at 16 056MW of generating capacity while the generating capacity out of service for planned maintenance is 2 407MW.
Eskom announced that load shedding will be suspended until 16:00 on Monday - before Stage 4 starts at 16:00 until 05:00 on Tuesday. Over the past 24 hours, a generating unit each at Kendal, Kriel, Matla and two generating units at Lethabo power stations were returned to service. Cahora Bassa was returned to service during the same period after a failure on Friday afternoon.
Thereafter, Stage 4 load shedding will be implemented from 05:00 until 16:00, followed by Stage 5 from 16:00 until 05:00 on Tuesday. This pattern will continue for the rest of the week until further notice. Breakdowns account for 17 392 MW of capacity, while another 2 940MW are out of service for maintenance.
