The first global survey of female staff in the sector revealed “widespread examples” of harassment. And the group behind the study said the sexist conduct could “have a devastating impact” on women trying to get on in the traditionally male-dominated world.
That rose to 44 per cent among those in consumer-facing roles, including brand ambassadors, and retail and hospitality staff. The Do You Even Like Whisky? survey also found 27 per cent of women working in the sector for five years or less had been touched inappropriately, indicating the problem is not a historic one.
