Mississippi food-labeling law ban terms like 'meatless meatballs' and 'vegan bacon'

in Mississippi bans vegetarian and vegan meat substitutes from using meat-related terms like"bacon" and"meatballs."

According to the law, food made from plants—or insects—cannot be labelled as meat or"a meat food product." The law also bans food using animal tissue created from laboratory cultures from being labeled meat.."I don't want to eat meat grown by a test tube in a laboratory. If my constituents do, they ought to know what they're getting."

Wow. And in a state where all the health indicators are really negative. Better to support corporations and business than to help your people improve their health, while also reducing the suffering of food animals.

Mississippi? What's the point?

Good!

good if their balls made out of meat they should be meatballs if their balls made out of onions and mushrooms they should be labeled onion mushroom balls not that complicated

That figures, but you can’t expect an intelligent decision coming from a state that ranks 48 in education.

This? is what Mississippi is worried about? That someone might inadvertently eat a vegetable?

Change comes hard.

Because they're not real things 🤪

Sit down, Mississippi.

“SmALL gOVerNMeNt!” lol.

What’s their excuse?
