'I wanted to set things right': Nissan CEO to step down over pay scandal as crisis at company deepens

The issue over excess pay first came to light after Greg Kelly, a former senior executive who was arrested along with Ghosn in November, accused Saikawa in a magazine interview of improperly receiving compensation. Nissan doesn't consider the excess payment to have violated any laws, and Saikawa has denied he ordered the payments, saying the matter was mishandled by staff.

Like Saikawa now, some of the allegations against Ghosn related to pay. The former chairman is currently out on bail, due to face trial in Tokyo next year on charges he failed to disclose compensation from Nissan, passed on trading losses to the carmaker and redirected company money into his own accounts. Ghosn denies all the allegations.Loading

The deterioration in relations between Nissan and Renault since Ghosn's arrest and an aborted merger with Fiat Chrysler also added to pressure on Saikawa. Long-held tensions between the two carmakers over control of their alliance broke into the open after Ghosn was arrested, and worsened when Renault's new chairman, Jean-Dominique Senard, pursued the Fiat deal without telling the Japanese company.

'That really hurts': Just 12 women CEOs in Australia's top companiesThe number of women running top ASX-listed companies has gone backwards, according to new figures released today. It all comes down to credentials , if your qualified you’ll get the job, pretty simple maths 😤😤😤😤 charliepick It boils down to the most qualified PERSON gets the job. I am all for equality , but everyone needs to stop pushing percentages and focus on who will best run the company and protect jobs. Maybe many prefer to be real mothers.

'That really hurts': Just 12 women CEOs in Australia's top companiesOnly 12 of Australia's top 200 ASX listed companies have a woman chief executive, a drop from 14 last year. The endless female hiss, their default victim mentality, their inferiority complexes. Their own worst enemies. Thats because they arent part of the anglo-saxon white mens club. They arent alone, people of different ethnicity, race, religion and class are also excluded. What these women want is it to be a anglo-saxon white peoples club, they arent for diversity more broadly.auspol So what? Men can’t bear children.
