Like others across the U.S., Texas companies are adapting to fight the pandemic, including a chocolate factory using its plastic packaging to make face shields and a sandblasting company that converted its sprayers to lay down disinfectant. houpublicradio

For Carlos de Aldecoa, President and CEO ofhand sanitizer was a natural fit because it uses ethanol, which they use to make their spirits, like vodka and bourbon.

Initially, Gulf Coast Distillers was producing 32-ounce bottles of the hand sanitizer, but now it comes in a range of sizes. They’re using an FDA recommended formula that’s a little more liquid than the standard gel customers are used to seeing on shelves. It also contains 80% alcohol and hydrogen peroxide.
