The SIP has gulped over N2 trillion since 2016 when the special intervention fund was created as an annual budgetary allocation targeted at the poor. Also, in the wobbly 2020 budget, the sum of N500 billion was voted for the SIP.
The National Assembly presiding officers called for the immediate review of the implementation of the fund for it to achieve its intended purpose. The meeting, according to a statement by the Special Adviser to the Senate President, Ola Awoniyi, in Abuja, was attended by the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Deputy Speaker, Idris Wase and some other principal officers and members from both chambers.
Lawan said that “the National Assembly is very much interested in the current intervention initiatives of the ministry, particularly with respect to the disbursement aimed at assuaging the plight of the poorest of the poor in Nigeria against COVID-19.” “When for example, some conditions are set that those who will benefit will have to go online, through the Internet or BVN and the rest of it.
The Senate President said the poorest of the poor have not been sufficiently captured by the programme. “We need to be better in terms of strategy for delivery and definitely, what we have been doing in the past cannot deliver exactly what will solve the challenges of the most ordinary and most vulnerable Nigerians.
It all boils down to faithful implementation and honesty of beneficiaries to pay back such funding as at when due.

Nigeria is built on falsehood, and nothing can stand on falsehood. There is no data on the disbursements because we have an anonymous population. Why do we have an anonymous population? Everybody knows why. 😂😂😂😂
