The availability of Google Cloud's Healthcare API could boost health systems' interoperability at a time when information sharing is needed

its Healthcare API generally available to healthcare organizations, enabling providers to integrate and manage medical data across systems and better understand this data via real-time analytics. a 10-year partnership with Minnesota-based Mayo Clinic in September 2019, and the health system has leveraged the tech giant's Healthcare API to improve the capacity for and interoperability of its clinical data.

The general availability of Google Cloud's Healthcare API could help boost health systems' interoperability at a time when seamless information sharing is sorely needed. The coronavirus pandemic has the need for healthcare organizations to seamlessly relay information to one another — and by making its Healthcare API available to the industry at-large, Google Cloud could help healthcare providers better coordinate care for the high volume of patients flooding through their doors.

By improving communication with other healthcare organizations, health systems could ensure that they're up-to-date on the latest information from public health officials concerning outbreaks of the novel coronavirus, and providers can more easily share new information on
