Sky News contributor Caleb Bond says the Victorian government's pro-China stance "is entirely in line" with their behaviour over the past few years. The Australian is reporting “Victoria is locked in critical final stage negotiations with Beijing over investments worth billions of dollars at the same time as its Treasurer has savaged the Morrison government’s ‘vilification’ of China over trade and the COVID-19 pandemic".
Mr Bond said "the fact that the Victorian Labor government would still be pressing on with the Belt and Road under these circumstances is ridiculous”. “For them to criticise the federal government for being one of the few powers in the world actually happy to stand up to China at the moment is also ridiculous”. Mr Bond also said the ALP were having difficulty maintaining a clear unified line held by all party members.
