Annual imports of dried garlic fell to slightly more than 50 million pounds in 2018, from over 165 million pounds in 2016.
FDA does not allow any soil in the roots when importing garlic. So China runs it through chlorine and other mix to kill the roots and wash off the soil. Not US allows it even through the product is killed, with the twist of chemicals in it
