Trudeau can't let the crucial post go vacant for long when the country is mired in the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression and running up unprecedented deficits -- both of which could deepen this fall if Canada is hit with a second wave of the novel coronavirus.
News last week that Trudeau has tapped Carney for informal advice on a post-pandemic recovery plan triggered fevered speculation that the prime minister was about to replace Morneau, with whom he reportedly had disagreements over policy. Whomever he chooses, Trudeau is expected to involve a minimal number of ministers in the shuffle necessitated by Morneau's exit.
But it's unlikely to silence speculation that he was pushed out over disagreements with Trudeau and the ongoing controversy over the government's choice of WE Charity to administer a student grant program.
When will CTV news apply the same scrutiny to Pierre poilievre? Pierre pigeon cheated his way into parliament and accepted an all expense paid trip to Taiwan which he then lied about. I expect CTV to investigate how Pierre poilievre is now a multi-millionaire.
And Morneau is applying for the OECD position...
This government has to fall. Half of them belong to jail.
