"One big 'why' why I joined Sun Life is because I don't want what happened to us to happen to them,” explained financial advisor Leigh Bonifacio as she lamented on her struggles growing up as a dependent of an overseas Filipino worker .
Leigh's childhood has proven to her that working abroad can come at great risk for families. While there may be more lucrative opportunities outside of the Philippines, job security is an issue for many OFWs. And, there are a few contingencies in place to protect them.
