Massive gains earlier in the week driven by news of successful vaccine trials gave way in the face of the rising numbers, dealers said. In the eurozone, Frankfurt’s DAX 30 also dropped 0.9 per cent to 13,091.86 points and the Paris CAC 40 lost 0.6 per cent to 5,411.66. A worrying spike in new infections in the US and Europe has fanned concerns about a deadly winter in the northern hemisphere with several countries already in lockdown.
