SCOTT GALLOWAY: The pandemic has caused a 'Great Dispersion' that is eroding American empathy and threatens the ability to call ourselves a nation (by profgalloway)

A man wears a cut-out mask at a 'Hazardous Liberty! Defend the Constitution!' rally to protest the stay-at-home order in Olympia, Washington.Scott Galloway is a bestselling author and professor of marketing at NYU Stern. No Mercy / No Malice."

As companies like Amazon and Walmart enjoy massive government stimulus aid, a fourth of Americans can't pay their rent, and many are working low-wage, at-risk jobs to try to keep food on the table. The pandemic's most enduring feature will be as an accelerant of existing trends. The trend that encapsulates the greatest reshuffling of stakeholder value in recent history is… the Great Dispersion.

Amazon dispersed retail to desktop, to mobile, to voice. Netflix dispersed DVDs to our mailbox, then to every screen. The pandemic is causing dispersion in even larger industries — the greatest opportunity for wealth creation in decades. Work from home, telemedicine, and remote learning represent an impending disruption of over 25% of the US economy. The largest sectors are about to leapfrog HQ, doctor's offices, hospitals, and campuses.

profgalloway the pandemic didn't cause the eroding of American empathy, it just exposed the lack of empathy in 47% of Americans who don't care about anyone but themselves. The US isn't the greatest nation, it's the greediest nation.

profgalloway Some part of white population hates and it is real. A subset of this population is unable to comprehend or cope with a planet that is moving ahead. There is another part of that subset which is using and manipulating the former, further exasperating the formers condition.

profgalloway And it shows how many gullible imbeciles we have in this country
