China's government slams Australia's decision to block a Chinese company's $300 million bid for the Australian construction firm Probuild, accusing the Federal Government of further undermining trust between the two countries.

China's government has slammed Australia's decision to block a Chinese company's $300 million bid for the Australian construction firm Probuild, accusing the Federal Government of further undermining trust between the two countries.

"This is the latest example of how the Australian government has been politicising trade and investment issues, violating market principles and the spirit of the China-Australia free trade agreement, and imposing discriminatory measures on Chinese companies," he said at a press briefing in Beijing. "We hope Australia will adhere to the principle of open market and fair competition and provide a fair, open and non-discriminatory business environment for foreign companies including Chinese ones."The Federal Government has not confirmed it had blocked the sale, saying it does not comment on the way it screens individual foreign investment cases.

A little too late. They own Aussie ports, airports, land, manufacturing, farms, property, utilities.

Slams! Ha ha yeah right

Hypocrites

We need to stand up to these Commie Bastards 🦠🦠🦠 It’s about time that the ABC starts reporting accurately, and stop pushing it’s biased Leftist agenda too🤠👍

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

🤣

Good

Chins can get stuffed. Australian Trade Commissioners need to get there best marketing teams to find alternative markets worldwide so we can tell China. “Sorry we are sold out and can’t supply to any more coal lobsters. Wine timber etc” We also need to stop selling assets

Okay cool, Australian wine? No!, Australian coal, No!, Australian beef, No!, barley, timber? No! No!....okay, so do what do you want? To own Australians Companies, please treat us fairly...

Great decision about time that we stopped the sell off of business to China

don't block our trade if you don't like it when we do it to you - suffer in your jocks....

Good!

Excellent

suck it up sweet heart

Good on Australia Well done

CCP hypocrisy! All international business decisions are directed, made and controlled by the Chinese Communist Party.

Why do western companies that go into China need to go into JOINT ventures with local firms to establish a business there- where they steal all the IP and tech? Why do all their rich people want to leave and become citizens of other countries?

Faaaark off

And why not who the fuck thinks this race of people own us with attitude to life and way of doing business some of you need to travel the world and see the mess they have left countries in construction ownership hahahah

Australia finding herself... standing up for herself. China has been using a form of domestic abuse against her, now we stand up against China.

Care factor zero, tell the crayfishermen and wine makers how unfair it is

World Reparations now for the filthy CCP Virus 🦠🦠🦠🤠🖕

Ban CCP

Australia slams China for refusing purchases of Chinese ports and land

Would be an interesting comparison to make, between the China under the CCP and Australia and look at foreign ownership policies side-by-side. Facts based analysis would be most instructive I think

Chinese commies love to cry foul when someone stands up to them. This kind of action is long overdue by the Western democracies who are being slowly bought up by the Chinese commies.

Since when can the Australian Government go and buy Companies in China

Righto we mustn’t politicise normal economic cooperation. 🍇 🐄

To buy a peace of paper off China or to sell them a cherry is to accept the atrocities it’s leader Xi pingpong & the CCP do to so many 😳Wipe out the CCP like yesterday is all that any right minded politicians should expect of themselfs 👁🌍👁

A wolf in sheeps clothing! This is not trade discrimination. They are trying to buy into a company that is building the HQ of a biotech firm that will be producing covid vaccines.Timing is everything! They don't allow investments at all but lay the guilt on us for blocking them!

Boo fkg hoo It is not their country

Stiff .

China's march on the world is out of hand. They destroy minorities and fear scrutiny. China is a bully and like most bullies when people stand up to them they whinge and cry and revert to lies and deceit. BoycottChina

So these armholes can block and tariffs refuse to accept our goods and we are not allowed to protect our nation’s interests, tell them to sit on a chopstick and spin 🤬😡🤬

Works both ways, Right? I have no care for Chinese Gov hurt feelings on this. They screw us over at short notice just to be manipulative. We have trust issues.

The extortion attempt to force our hand didn’t work. I guess the response from China will be to apply further trade pressure until we’ve learned our lesson. The fight for Australia and our sense of independence is in full swing.

There are some loyal Australians that realise the Communists end game.

They always have a hissy fit when they can not get there way. Please supply tissues.

For once I can say well done to ScottMorrisonMP government. Excellent decision. China wants to buy Australia and it needs to stop, including ownership of housing.

Really quite consistent, the Coalition has a long held policy of not becoming involved as a partner in the business sector so it has alway seemed hypocritical for it to allow foreign government owned enterprises to do so here. Every Chinese based business is an arm of the CCP.

We must show china who we are, there abusive economy we watching it , If it harm Australia for years to come we not gonna accepted and this is one of our proof to Chinese government.

China you Cant hav it yor way all the time !

'Probuild is constructing the Melbourne headquarters of biotech firm CSL, which will soon manufacture locally produced COVID-19 vaccines for millions of Australians, as well as new headquarters for the Victorian Police.' Yeah, nah.

Too bad. Aren't there ships still anchored off shore waiting to off load perishable goods? Then there's wheat, barely, meat and other products China suddenly deem unsuitable. What's good for the goose ...

We can find better investors

Well done Australia....🙏

If we don’t get a say why should they get a say.

Boycotting Chinese goods and investment whenever you can. Buy Australian. It will take a while but manufacturing will return to these shores

Cold War xenophobic fears will bring us back to a banana 🍌 republic that Paul Keating warned us of! china asiaCentury embrace China or sink ScottyFromMarketing

How difficult for China to understand 'Blocking...' No need to slam, just don't bid

Take a hint you sad pricks.

Well well , no surprises there, China wants it all their own way or they spit the dummy

I don’t care what China thinks

about time we grew some

China, can Australian Companies 100% own Chinese Companies?, can Australian companies 109% own land & property in China? If the answer is NO, then take your complaining and shove it somewhere.

I will try to put this as eloquently and and sincerely as possible, “ fuck China!”

China must learn they can’t bully other countries like they bully their own people.

Tell ‘EM to suck it up Princess...

Why do we give them any oxygen?

Tell them to get stuffed. 😡

Good

Typically arrogant.

“You have no power here” !!!!

We did something right for once

Yep block them all every single bid! I want my Grandchildren to have a future!

Ironic, they can comfortably block trade from others but don’t like others blocking them from trading.....

Why would we invest in foriegn ciuntry that blocks our trade ?

This is just one frontline issue; Australia also needs to consider divestment. This is no different from any classical mob boss story. Mob boss wants to buy you out, but at what cost to one's own interests? Mob boss says, does, anything to dissuade your dissent.

Suck it up Chin Chin's .. welcome to the world of mutual respect and bilateral deals ... you block us ... we block you 😁

I believe ProBuild is South African, it's parent company is already have Chinese what is the point of blocking this merger, especially the Chinese already owned part of company

Chinese commies are a joke to Aussies

You can’t have it.. dumb fcks..

Nasty Chinese Government, typical communist attitude, do as I say not as I do.🇦🇺

Good they brought this on themselves

Shouldn't improper business cooperation be condemned?

Advance Australia Fair!

short memory, what about that Australian mining company in Africa you blocked

Someone call the waambulance, the commies are upset again.

Tough luck sunshine, maybe start treating yr trading partners with a bit more respect and they might just allow there deals to go through, instead u carry on like a spoilt little brat, throwing all yr toys outa the cot,lie to the world about covid, refuse access to covid origin.

Well done. Hmmm... I wonder what DanielAndrewsMP would have done❓ Oh that is right, he signed up to the CCP plan❓

I can’t think of a regime that has managed to make itself so hated by so many people around the world quite so quickly as Xi’s ‘Wolf Warrior’ junta. There’s a big slap down coming for them if history is any guide. Xi’s arrogance will cost millions of Chinese lives eventually.

China should stop interfering in Australia’s internal affairs.

Well...well..well.. Australians can't buy land or homes in China. Australian businesses have been blocked by China. So, why complain if we choose not to give you (China) a lucrative business contract 🤔🙄

Cry me a river...

Meanwhile ship's with Australian cargo have been sitting for months outside Chinese ports for months. Not only should we stop them buying any Australian company, we should force them to divest what they already bought.

suck it up sunshine

Good for Australia. I just wish Trudeau would grow a pair. I

Well, they bought John Holland and look what happened at the new Perth Children's Hospital - lead contamination in the water pipes.

You don't go away empty-handed here is some A2 baby milk formula and Blackmores vitamins. Who is our next constant?

Given china's irrational trade blockages of Australian goods Australia should ban all Chinese investment. They played the bully and don't like it when a country stands up to them. As for trusting China ask Hong Kong how that worked for them. Ban Chinese investment immediately.

Good on Josh Frydenberg

China.... go get a big one

The United State Government listed it as a Chinese military company because of its links with the People's Liberation Army, blocking investors from taking a stake in it. Yes, Australia (the world) needs more companies controlled by the Chinese Military.

thats good china owns to much already

If they want to get elected again the Aussie government will decouple from China for good. A bully boy nation with designs on aggressive acquisition of territory in the region.

That confirms the CCP state is behind the acquisition

Funny. They MUST have a sense of humour!

chop sticks you started the game go fricken your selves now or say sorry

That sounds like a sensible reason to block the bid.

Dear China, 👇🏻

While Morrison has handled the relationship with China terribly, it is a bit rich of the Chinese to complain about being blocked from doing a deal after the number of tariffs they have placed on Australian exports over the last few months.

Look, we aren’t exactly friends anymore, so why not?

After the yanks have finished with china, they'll need some good buiders

China can get stuffed; Australian owners for Australian companies.

The thug zlj517 is back. Got to love the low ranking apparatchiks inside the Chinese mafia state keep up the bleeting.

Australia seem to bacame the last outpost against the China invasion👏👏👏👏✌️👏👏👏 Someone in Italy should take lesson by it🤔

How many Australian assets does China want or need to buy? 🙄

Oh no, we pursue our national interest, China never uses that line do they.

Can't have it both ways CCP. Can't impose destructive tariff on our produce and still expect to buy our companies. You are not dealing with a spineless labor government led by Kevin Rudd. Keep up.

Would an Australian company be allowed to buy a Chinese builder? Or any other company, for that matter?
