Local community groups say they have had little say in plans for the development, which include more than 1,000 apartments to be built over the Sydney Fish Market site.

The NSW Government has revealed its plans for the renewal of Blackwattle Bay in inner-Sydney, sparking fury from locals who say the development process has involved "manipulation rather than consultation".The NSW Government says the development will create around 5,600 jobsThe vision for the site went on public exhibition for the first time today, showing high-rise commercial buildings, 1,150 residential apartments, and a revitalised Sydney Fish Market.

Denis Doherty, from community group Hands Off Glebe, said the development was a step forward for the property developers but a loss for the community."They have never run a public meeting and they wouldn't be game to because the councils and ourselves would give them such a hard time. The Blackwattle Bay will include a promenade linking Pyrmont to Glebe.

"Our focus will now have to be on making sure that this public recreation area meets all our aspirations for a place for not just the residents, but the public," Ms Elenius said.

So, no different to every other NSW government plan all over the state.

Like everything in Sydney, stand aside for the rich & privileged they do their property development - at mammoth profits due to Rezoning. Meanwhile, the existing residents and owners absolutely shafted. Just reframe expectations downwards.
