Damien Hirst, the world’s richest artist, claimed almost $2 million from a government relief fund:

Cecilia Alemani, the artistic director for the upcoming Venice Biennale, has appointed five experts to the jury that will determine the winners of the show’s Golden and Silver Lions. They are Whitney curator Adrienne Edwards, GAMeC Bergamo director Lorenzo Giusti, Inhotim artistic director Julieta González, independent curator Bonaventure Soh Bejeng Ndikung, and Museum für Moderne Kunst director Susanne Pfeffer.

The statue of Robert Milligan, a merchant and slave trader, was taken down in June 2020 after 4,000 people petitioned for its removal from east London. Now, instead of being tossed away, it will be exhibited in the Museum of London Docklands so that it can be “fully contextualized.” A sale of South Asian modern and contemporary art, including works from the collection of Mahinder and Sharad Tak, fetched a total of $20.

Don't blame Damien...

Rich artist - rich relief and no shame

Don't target the artist and his business, that's exactly what it is, a business. Target the government who cut funds at grassroots level every year whilst demeaning the subject in schools and expect Keynesian businesses like his to fix things.

Time to “Give Back” or “Pay it Forward”

This seems consistent with my opinion of him and of those who’ve elevated him to his current status in the art world. 🤡

Deplorable.

Scam Artist
