Steve Aoki on why he’s a 'crypto believer'

. The first drop we’re doing is going to be an exclusive collection from My Little Pony for all the Aokiverse members. For my first NFT drop, I did Character X. We had launched with Stoopid Buddy [Studios], Seth Green’s stop-motion animation company, and createdNFT collection — and now we’ve got the next chapter. PFP is coming soon with exclusive early access to just passport holders.

I offer the same thing. That’s why we are doing these drops with My Little Pony, then Attack on Titan next. We’re going to be working with other NFT projects in dropping exclusive collabs inside of Aokiverse with great projects that are blue chip. You have that aspect that Gary V and VeeFriends have done; I am building out what VeeCon is going to look like, and I’m going to be speaking there as well.

When you have a community that has a Discord, do you have moderators to keep it clean, or to keep the racists out? How does that work? Yes, I do. It definitely is a very important topic, and something that needs to be addressed in a way that uproots all of it. If we could figure out a way to build a more ecologically friendly foundation underneath the actual blockchain, it needs to happen. We can ask the question, “Is it worth doing, or not doing?” It is definitely a hope and dream that people who are more versed in this space can find a way to make it more ecologically sound.

The big difference is exactly what you just said, and the whole idea is that we are moving towards Web3. With Web2 you do not own anything. I always put it like this: I fly American Airlines because I want to get my points up. I’m at the highest level, but I can’t ever sell it. Of course, I could fly United all the time, but I decided to be an American flyer. I am Concierge Key and I am proud of that. I don’t necessarily want to sell it, but I want to have the opportunity to.

I think we have not really even made a dent in culture. We’ve made a dent within our small world for sure, but as far as cultural ramifications, we are so small. We are such a small percentage of the whole space. The dialogue is going to change when your favorite artist is doing an NFT and it is art.

It’s entirely up to the market. The exciting thing about the whole world is that the market decides if they are going to spend money on a band that just came out and said, “Hey, I want to make money off this album that no one has heard of.” The market will decide if they want to pay for it and what the floor is, and they are going to decide with their wallets at the end of the day.

Oh, I know, but I think this is like two people talking over each other’s heads because the music is going to exist regardless. It is going to be out there for people to listen to, and like we said earlier, it is basically free. With Spotify, they might increase a little bit for people to make extra money, but it is not going to be a game-changing effect. It is always going to be at that free level.

He sounds like the offspring of an MLM and a vacation club, adopted by Hypebeast, and raised as an only child.

🖕🏼

he's already a has-been in the dance music space, trying to cash in on the last gasps of his fading fame.

- 'Aoki, why are you a crypto believer?' steveaoki - 'Why not?'

Good interviewing, with sooooo many nonsense bullshit answers.

steveaoki Hey Steve, love your music, fucking hate whatever else you said. I mean cool and all but I liked it better when it was Neon Future and less, Aokiverse. The fact you had to franchise your name with the metaverse is just so, pandering to cry(pto) bros.

steveaoki This is really great. As with music, it looks good as an NFT. Anyway, it's wonderful.

LOL so the ‘Aokiverse’ is like Gary Vee’s fly fish NFT club but with extra Scientology cult vibes. ‘Yeah we’ve already had one extremely wealthy person make it to Black Prism Level Six’ WHY IS THIS GOOD AND NORMAL

Disgusting that you're giving any air time to these types of total con operation pyramid schemes of bulls***

So, did Mike Shinoda shill it to Steve, or did Steve shill it to Mike?

In this week’s Decoder, reckless talks with steveaoki about why he’s a crypto believer and the future of NFTs in the music business. Listen to their full conversation and subscribe here:

Because he’s rich and gullible people will buy his tokens/NFTs. Crypto and NFTs only benefit the rich, you can clearly see that if you take a look at the space.

He should probably stick to things he's good at like throwing cake at people and falling off stages.

Good article and it really does show how all this is bullshit

Because he doesn't understand what's he's talking about, like most people?

Because he‘s a grifter?

Spoiler alert: because he wants to sell you worthless tokens.
