Business Oooo that herts

Business ICEVs will be with us in diminishing numbers through 2045. Plenty of time for the family’s kids to to get into another business.

Business If Canada truly wants to go green, this has to happen. Or is the environmental stuff just theoretical holes to dump money into?

Business Lol, pretty sure she will retire pumping gas no problem. EVs are like 1% of the cars on the road, and (sadly) ICE cars aren’t going away any time soon. Don’t you have an actual problem to report on (like the planet being killed off by the same fossil fuels)?

Business The horse and buggy makers existed for centuries. Society moves on to better technology. Crying about your outdated job is pointless.

Business It will take 50 years for this to happen

Business Didn't we go through this before with the cashiers and self-checkouts becoming popular? Technology moves forward, we always end up reducing/losing an set of jobs/industries. But opening up a new set.

Business If only there was some way to predict that this was going to happen... if only.

Business The reduction of consumption due to the increase in cost is having a bigger effect than EVs. We need more EVs to make a bigger impact but sure, scape goat the EVs instead of how much you charge.

Business If they’re smart they’ll offer both options.

I have 3 gas stations within 1 km of my home. I guess two of them could disappear but probably I will disappear before the 3rd one does.. In one way or another.

The future is hydrogen cars. Gas stations will be rebuilt with hydrogen refueling instead.

Higher gas prices are killing gas stations. Higher prices leading to people wanting more EVs which will lower demand and eventually eliminate gas stations. Then build condos on them.

Oh noes!

Who are these “experts” that keep getting quoted on everything in the news?

An ICE vehicle sold in 2034 will be around until at least 2045-2055, way to late to have any meaningful effect on preventing run away climate change. We have a government that simply doesn’t care and a population that largely doesn’t understand what’s at stake.

Absurd

I'm panicking

Propaganda…..

Gas stations are so much more than just gas stations. I love a good ONroute.

Experts. What a joke. Your out come biased experts.

Where do these 'experts' think EV buyers are going to get the extra $10-25,000 needed to buy an EV?

nah - sales of NEW gas cars may end but there are new cars today that are being made to last longer. Industry to keep them running, do repairs etc will be around long after 2035. Also affordability ppl can't afford food today, do you think they're worried about ecars?

Oh no, not that.

The 2023 deadline is fictional politics and a distraction for votes.

EVs are the future, HEVs replace diesel cars, PHEVs are the Edsels of this decade, Most people buy regular ICE cars. Now, build more nuclear power plants to ensure the future supply of electricity and hydrogen. ☢️

Whoever thinks this, needs to do some research. Just because Justin says so doesn’t make it true or that he will ever meet a goal. Which he never has to this date. There is not enough lithium to make enough batteries for everyone in Canada to have an electric car.

And CBC wondering why only 4% of Canadians view their liberal propaganda.

Business not at this rate.

they rebuilt a gas station here in town and I was surprised that there was no electric charging.

Chicken little…. CBC fear mongering again

If one looks at some if the new gas stations being built it is obvious they will become charging stations. The new stations will have more traveller amenities ($) as they await the charge up.

You have to generate and distribute the power first. It can’t just show up on a truck like fuel. 😂. It will be expensive.

30 years at least. We don't have the infrastructure to switch everyone over quickly. Let alone public transport, shipping companies, etc. Gas stations are still safe for a while.

🤣🤣🤣 wait till they start taxing those

Business Soooooo what!

We do not have the ability to create enough batteries to power enough cars to close the stations. It is my understanding that the info structure does not exist to power said cars especially in colder climates.

Business At this rate....her grandkids will be pumping gas...

Also, the sky is falling…

That is so far down the line!!

We're gonna be fine, folks.

Expert warn that CBC is corrupt along with the liberal goverment

Not correct. This transition will take decades to happen.

Will be charging stations instead no big deal

Here we go with the “experts” again. I’m thinking of the reality that large condos or apartment buildings, remote areas and financial constraints may inhibit the rapid growth of electric cars are “experts” propagandize, I mean “predict”.

We can only hope... (not entirely true, we can all transition to EVs as soon as possible)

Lol. Ok.

NO

What a SHAME...😂😂😂😂😂😂

The Era of Oil & Gas may End Globally with Electric Vehicles & Electric Stoves as Oil & Gas is Globally Getting Replaced with Fully Electric Vehicles for transportation & also Electric & Induction Stoves are used in Cooking ATF may get Replaced with Fully Electric Planes & Jets.

So how will they collect road tax when gas stations are a thing of the past. Will they charge everyone per km they drive. Charge diff prices for your charging station electricity and house electricity? How will you drive to Toronto in winter without waiting to recharge 2x

😂😂😂

The only reason we aren't completely fucked us because of private enterprise. If it was up to Trudeau and the green cult we'd be screwed. Most incompetent bunch of people I've ever seen living in a dream world.

Lmao . I doubt that . I'd love to see how well an EV works in the territories. Park outside for 8 hours for work at -45 come out to a dead battery. Not to mention the fact that cold will kill the battery life. getfuckedtrudeau

All of these EV fanboys are living in fantasyland. Synthetic fuels will be here long before next gen batteries that would enable zero range anxiety

Holy smokes, there are 55,000 EV’s in Canada, 30,000,000 internal combustion engines… maybe wait until we reach 1% of vehicles as EV’s before predicting the sky is falling

Again with the experts lol

Change is hard. It was for urban veterinarians when cars replaced horses & will be for gas stations as ICE vehicles are phased out. The world adapted then, it will now. EVolution.

Where are the metals going to come from to produce all these batteries? Russia or China? They are good dependable sources. Lol

Canada will become like Cuba, with mass ownership of old, well maintained cars.

I will buy privately…..spend a ton of money on gas, and polute the air.. Beside gas power is better than dealing with those expensive, dirty, more harmful batteries.

Shocking number of people who have no idea where we are, where we're headed - and what's dead and over-with. And why that is. Hilarious, however, that the means of motive power for an automobile are a 'thing,' for some people. Like there's 'teams,' or 'parties.' 'I'm an 'oily.''

I've found that experts have been wrong. Lately much more often.

This is one of the stupidest, of regular stupid articles from the CBC. Electric cars are like 5% of vehicle and the number has not been growing. Someday maybe, but this article is kinda ridiculous a couple of decades before it is a thing.

Bullshit

That's nonsense. The industry will adapt to charging stations will billable amounts that you use for your vehicle.

So retrofit the pumps with electricity, seems like a no-brainer. But first we need a car that charges in the same time it takes to pump gas.

How reliable are electric vehicles for long distance travel? Are electric vehicles really any better for the environment? Personal transportation should not be a political issue.

What do you think will happen when electric vehicles reach critical mass? The price of electricity will go through the roof.

Not in Canada, eh ? 1. Canada does not make electric cars. 2. There is no charging infrastructure for long distant drives. 3. Canadian oil companies are subsidized be Canadian government. 4. Oil companies will compete with electric cars. 5. Canada is slow to change. 🇨🇦

So, why are companies like Wawa and 7Eleven building new gas stations at a fast pace in the USA?

Yeah, because there is a surge of people who can afford electric cars or the crazy price of electricity in some provinces.

Lets hope!

If there are no more gas stations, then how will drivers get around buses stopped at a red light?

Lol. Maybe 2050!!

Oh no.

Experts? Lol.

1 barrel of oil 42 litres will make approximately 1 litre of lubricant. Every care you drive needs at least 10 barrels minimum to grease and lubricate moving parts. Wind turbines require 1000's of barrels of oil just to run , you guys are out to lunch.

Will electric vehicles kill off gas stations ? Perhaps not, but the government certainly will.

Lol, they'll never make it in time for the transition for so many reasons. Govt will wait till 2030 to tell you though.
