A 27-year-old man who thought he had gamed the HDB BTO system took to social media looking for a girl to “marry on paper”.
In a paragraph-long sentence, the man outlined that because the newlyweds would then not be in a real relationship, they would each be free to date others and bring them back home. According to his plan, they would then be able to buy a Build-To-Order flat. Once the HDB’s Minimum Occupation Period was over, he then wrote that they would sell the flat, split the proceeds equally and file for divorce.
He added that he had come up with this plan as he could not stand living with his family and wanted to move out as soon as possible. However, he was below the minimum age required to purchase a BTO flat on his own.Earlier this year, a girl in a relationship of four-and-a-half years sought advice from netizens after her boyfriend, with whom she applied for a BTO flat, blocked her and was uncontactable.
