The department is also in charge of all current land development, building permitting and inspections, as well as health inspections of food establishments, daycares, hotels and more.enforces in her department, believing happy people make people happy.

In her role, Thoppil strives to develop a retention strategy to keep underrepresented talent at the organization by being patient and supportive to provide them with the right training.Working in the eighth largest diverse city in the U.S., Thoppil said planners are pioneers of change. They identify issues and come up with solutions that are grassroots. They are facilitators and connection builders.My department has been recently awarded a grant from the U.S.

Artificial Intelligence is one that I think will change our industry and community, and we are least prepared for its high impact. AI involves numerous subareas — automation and workforce displacement, infrastructure systems and planning tools, as well as ethical standards.
