Manchester's Squawk Brewing Company and other bars have announced their closure, reflecting the challenges faced by the hospitality industry.

February is finally here. Perhaps it's just me but I'm fighting the urge to go around shaking strangers' hands and say: "We made it - well done." For those doing 'Dry January', it may have felt even more like more like a test of endurance. But what if you're a pub or bar owner, or even a local brewery? In the last few weeks, Manchester's much-loved Squawk Brewing Company announced its closure, while Salford's Seven Bro7hers Brewing CO said it was calling time on its Liverpool Beerhouse.

A week earlier, Tiki bar Lola Lo announced it had served its last pina colada after a decade on Deansgate Locks.
