The director of a Queensland roofing company, who was jailed after one of his employees fell to his death on a Sunshine Coast worksite, has had his conviction quashed, with the Court of Appeal ordering a retrial.Whareheera Keepa Te Amo died after falling almost six metres off a roof at a Cooroy factory in 2014.

Gary Lavin, a director from Multi-Run Roofing, has worked in the construction industry for close to 50 years It was the first charge of reckless conduct tested at a trial in any state or territory working under similar workplace health and safety legislation.
